Holiday Marketing Ideas for Local Service Businesses
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! You know what that means? You may be going into your slower season of January through March. Let’s discuss some excellent Holiday marketing ideas to fill your schedule through your slow season. Here are some of our favorite holiday marketing ideas:
Create a holiday gift guide
A holiday gift guide is a list of products that your customers and prospects can purchase for their loved ones. These guides are often curated to include only items you think they will like or services you provide. If you’re a carpet cleaning company, for example, your gift guide might include “giving the gift of clean” and schedule a carpet cleaning for mom.
A good holiday gift guide should be easy to read and navigate, full of great products or services, and visually appealing (so readers will want to share it on social media). Here are some things to keep in mind when creating yours:
- Start with an outline: A good way to start this process is by creating an outline of what needs to go into the guide first — then fill in each section as you go along.
- Plan ahead: When choosing which brands/products/services go into each section of your blog post about “Holiday Gifts You Can Buy Locally” (for example), make sure there isn’t too much overlap between sections – otherwise readers won’t know where else they could find these items.
- Make sure everything fits together well visually: Your holiday gift guide shouldn’t just contain images; it should also have text describing why these items would make good gifts for others too.
Holiday-only product or service
- Offer a holiday-only service. You can offer an exclusive package for the holidays, like free dining room cleaning to clean up messes after Christmas dinner when you get the 3 other rooms cleaned.
- Offer a holiday-only product. Give your clients something to look forward to when winter is finally over, you could offer some kind of gift card that expires at the end of January and has no monetary value afterward.
- Offer a holiday-only package. If you have several services or products, consider offering an “everything” package with all of them combined into one big discount that makes it easier and more affordable for your client to book everything they want all at once instead of individually booking each service separately throughout the year.
Gift Card Discount for New Customers
Offer a $200 discount for $100 ($100 Off) and people can by it as a gift for up to 3 other people. Those 3 people can redeem the gift card for service, which typically costs more than $200. This helps you get a new customer and the lifetime value of the customer for $100, which you discounted the gift card for.
Gift cards are a home run for local businesses because they may never be redeemed but are excellent gifts to give for unique local presents.
January New Year Special
January is the perfect time to offer a discounted package for new or existing clients who haven’t used your services in a while. This is a great way to get new customers in the door and show them how much you care about their needs.
Offer a special deal, for example, the first 10 customers of the new year get a special discount or offer. If the year is 2023 maybe give 23% off for the first 10 people to schedule in 2023.
Say Thank You to Customers from this year
If you’re in a local service business, the holiday season is important to let your customers know how much you appreciate them.
How will you do that? You can give them a discount or offer a gift card as a present. You could also send out freebies or special deals for customers who have been loyal to your business over the last year You want to ensure that whatever you plan on offering is something people will use and enjoy.
